hommage

"If I had been rich, I probably would not have devoted myself to mathematics."
- Joseph-Louis Lagrange

Close to two centuries later your mathematical contributions are still too profound and have given me many a sleepless night. But without them, I wouldn't have much of a thesis to write. I am forever indebted.

wtf?

I no be gentleman at all

Duke Amayo- Yoruba man from Yaba, Lagos. He has a stage presence much like Fela. Definitely gives Femi a run for his money. He teaches the crowd Yoruba throughout the show. Their first set was mostly dub which was refreshing. I told C, "I'd like to see an Antibalas in Dub album." What's not to like about them? Their culturally diverse band includes Latinos, whites, Africans and Asian-Americans. Afrobeat is the foundation of their music, but really their music embodies the melting pot that is NYC. It's adamantly political and with music as their weapon there is little anyone can do but imbibe.

Ticklah, their keyboard player also plays for Easy Stars All Stars, the band best known for their Dub Side of the Moon album and most recently Radiodread - a reggae version of Radiohead's OK computer. They will be in Austin later this month. Radiohead and Floyd fans, I highly recommend both these albums. I digress. I should just make this a music blog.
